Castle Grounds

Overlooked by the impressive landmark of Tamworth Castle, the Pleasure Grounds have beautiful floral terraces in the Summer months dropping down to the banks of the River Anker and open grassland - ideal for walks and picnics in the Summer.

The bandstand is located at the top of floral terracing under the Castle and in the summer brass band concerts are held each Saturday (sponsored by Ankerside Shopping Centre) and Sunday afternoon.

Combined with a visit to Tamworth Castle, the facilities in the Grounds are excellent for families with an extensive adventure play area for children aged 3 to 14, a cafe, river walks and one of the highest standard public bowls greens in the Midlands.

You can also visit Dave Owen Cycles and find out information on cycle routes, have your bike fixed as well as buy an ice cream on those hot summer days. Here you can hire rackets for tennis or clubs for the crazy golf.

Also located behind the outside public toilets in the Grounds is an outdoor gym. Why not come and get active with these fantastic facilities. There is an exercise bike, cross trainers and body weigh resistance machines.

Located in the Grounds is also the new Skatepark with facilities for all the keen borders, bikers and skaters.

Tamworth Borough Council is proud to support Outdoor Events within theTamworth area. As well as supporting and getting involved in our own events, you can hire the grounds for yourself.
