It’s that time of year again folks – FESTIVE SEASON!

Santa Claus is well and truly coming to town, and we can not wait to fill the next few weeks with full festive cheer and magical merriment.

In and around Tamworth there is plenty to do to fill up your cup with Christmas magic.

Here’s some seasonal inspo for you, no matter your age, or budget, there will be something for everyone. 

Castle Grounds and Playpark 

We NEVER miss this one off the list and Christmas is NO exception.

A festive walk around Tamworth town and heading to the play area is always a good idea. It is FREE. As long as you wrap up warm and sport your festive jumpers, then we really can’t see why this can’t be a festive game changer for those on a budget or with smaller children.

SANTA’S FESTIVE VILLAGE

Holloway. Tamworth Castle Grounds:

Holloway lawn will be transformed into a mini magical winter wonderland filled with festive experiences for all the family to enjoy.

The village will be beautifully decorated with lights, festive music and seasonal food and drinks, and feature a range of interactive activities. These include a visit to Santa’s Grotto with a small gift for each child, real life reindeer, gingerbread decorating, story time with Mrs Claus and much more.

What’s Christmas without the FOOD!?

We are spoilt for festive food in Tamworth. Check out the Food & Trail to look for local eateries to enjoy this festive season and get tasting their festive menus ASAP!

We have produced a map which can be downloaded here. It is also available as a printed pocket-sized map which you can collect from the Tamworth Information Centre, (inside Tamworth Assembly Rooms) Tamworth Castle and at some of the trail locations. There's also a FREE smartphone app version too. Get Into Nature 

You can’t really go wrong when you head out in nature. Just be prepared. As the saying goes, 'It's not bad weather, it's bad clothing'. With that said, be sure to wrap up warm and keep dry whilst you explore the great autumnal outdoors. 

We are a tad spoilt in Tamworth for some seriously pretty nature spot – we just want to keep them that way. So we kindly ask you take all litter home with you to keep these precious spaces safe for our plants, wildlife and animals, but also pleasant for other visitors too. 

With 14 nature spots to choose from, there is plenty of options for a breath of fresh air to fill the last few weeks of summer.

Wiggington Park

Don’t overlook this beautiful space in the heart of Tamworth. Complete with a nature tree walk, great views across the town, as well as a little hot psot for train spotters – this park is ideal for people with young children too as it has a great play area for you to enjoy. 

Shops are nearby for any essential park picnic supplies, and we guarantee a good few hours of summer weather filled fun at this little hot spot.

Don’t forget to also check out Planters Garden Centre for a Santa meet and greet and some festive foodie fun. Middleton Hall and Gardens for a traditional pretty magical festive line-up; and for the kiddies Ash End Farm, Manor Fruit Farm, Snowdome and Statfold Barn for some truly wonderful festive magic.

YOU CAN’T CACTH ME I’M THE GINGERBREAD MAN!

This Christmas we have a host of lovely Gingerbread statues coming in and around Tamworth town. They provide a great FREE photo opportunity to for all ages who fancy a bit of festive fun.

They are complete with a QR to scan which should be helpful in sharing all the Christmas happenings locally too!

Children’s Christmas Crafts (Free) Tamworth Library

Children’s Christmas Crafts every Saturday in December at Tamworth Library. Drop in between 10am and 3pm to take part. Children must be supervised.
