Countdown is on as exciting We Love Tamworth festival returns at popular Castle Grounds next month
The countdown is on as the glorious annual town festival We Love Tamworth returns next month at the stunning Castle Grounds.
The action-packed day of activities for the whole family is set to take place on Saturday, September 11 and will bring with it a variety of entertainment for people of all ages to enjoy and lose themselves in the moment.
The event, which has been running since 2012, will include stalls, a fairground, food, drinks, games, a fun children’s zone, dog show, bungee runs, obstacle courses, a bouncy castle and live music from Bryan Brindley – just to mention a few.
And new for 2021, this year’s entertainment will also include the town’s first ever Environmental Arts Festival, led by New Urban Era.
Cllr Robert Pritchard, Deputy Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said: “We can’t wait for September to come and to put on this show for the community.
“We’re really excited and looking forward to this year’s event because we couldn’t organise it last year due to the coronavirus pandemic but this year we can and we’re going bigger and better.
“It’s set to be a fun and enjoyable day with so much going on so I thoroughly encourage everyone to come down to Tamworth for the weekend and join the excitement and atmosphere of our festival.”
The weekend extravaganza has already started to take shape with a number of stalls already booked. These include C.F., Royal British Legion, Tawmorth Wellbeing & Cancer Support Centre, Kendall and Wall, Specsavers, Pathway Project, Heavenly Baking, Rub Me Tender, M&RJ Taylor, Tamworth & Lichfield Sea Cadets, Ocado and Acer Dental Clinic.
What’s more, this year’s festival will see Tamworth’s own New Urban Era launch and host the town’s first Environmental Arts Festival – led by NUEs Vic Brown, who was honoured by the National Lottery last year for his contributions to the arts during Covid-19 lockdown.
Guests will be captivated by trapeze performances from The Flying Peach, environmental and recyclable art workshops from Nature Makers and South Staffordshire College, Yoga classes from Tamworth's Balance and Surrender and live visual arts.
Vic said: “New Urban Era look forward to working with Tamworth Borough Council at this year's We Love Tamworth Event where we will host Tamworth's first Environmental Arts festival.
“New Urban Era first attended the We Love Tamworth event in 2019 and received a warm welcome from visitors, but due to coronavirus unfortunately the event was cancelled last year. But we have bigger and better plans for 2021 including trapeze performances and workshops from The Flying Peach.
“This will make a fantastic centre point for our environmental workshops hosted by Nature Makers and South Staffordshire College where the public can roll up their sleeves and have a go at the activities on the day.
“We will also be approaching our visual arts offer differently for the event with artists using more environmentally friendly materials this year. Also commissioned includes the very talented Katie Scott Creative and Katie O.
“We are really excited about this and look forward to a relaxing day when the towns folk can join us in connecting with nature and art.”
Funded by National Lottery Grants distributed by Arts Council England, Tamworth Borough Council, Tamworth Rotary Club and local businesses, We Love Tamworth has drawn large crowds from near and far in recent years – making it a must-see event.
If you are interested in setting up a stall at this year’s event, please contact mark.kyte@tamworthlions.org.uk who is on the lookout for any charity or commercial stalls. All proceeds from the stall fees will go to local and national good causes.
It is important to note that Tamworth Borough Council has the right to cancel this event with government advice nearer to the time.
