Councillor Thomas Jay, Deputy Leader of the Council said: “The modern Fire and Police Station on Marlborough Way is a fantastic location to serve the people of Tamworth.
“It was a pleasure to be joined by councillors from all local political groups on this visit, where we saw for ourselves how partnership working tackles the local community safety issues people face. The organisation best placed to deal with something, be that fire service, police or council will act and take steps to improve the lives of Tamworth communities.
“I also saw how working together, everyone works to protect and signpost our most vulnerable people to the support they need.”
Duncan Cole, Station Manager at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, added:
“Alongside our colleagues at Staffordshire Police, it was a pleasure to engage with local councillors at Tamworth Belgrave Fire Station.
“It gave us the opportunity to discuss issues in the Tamworth area and how councillors can work with us to solve these issues.
“Councillors were given a tour of the station, got the opportunity to meet our operational team and even see us in action in a house fire demonstration.”
“Serving our community is the Fire Service’s core focus, and with the support of our colleagues at Staffordshire Police and local councillors, we can continue to drive this objective forward to help reduce and remove risks in our communities using a combination of prevention, protection and response activities and help make Staffordshire a safer place to live, work and visit.”
