Enjoy more special events at Tamworth Castle
Hunt for dragons, seek out their eggs and step back in time to learn about medieval life, in a variety of fun-packed family activities this season at Tamworth Castle.
Half-term fun begins on February 16, when visitors are invited to go on an exciting castle’s Dragon Hunt at Tamworth’s award winning castle. Whilst playing hide and seek, Tamworth Castle’s resident dragon Ruby and her brother Hafgrim have gone missing. They now appear to be lost!
Join the search for the castle’s dragons, learn how to decorate the dragon’s den and brush up on your dragon hunting skills!
Family fun for Easter begins on April 13 at the castle, with an ‘egg-stra’ special egg hunt. This time Ruby has disguised her eggs so that the dragon charmer will be unable to detect them. As an extra precaution, Hafgrim, Ruby’s brother, has hidden the eggs and now cannot find them.
Visitors will be asked to search every corner of the ancient building to find Ruby’s lost eggs and record their findings on a quiz sheet. Children will be given a small reward upon completion.
Please note: visitors will not be able to find Ruby during the egg hunt as she will be too busy looking for her eggs!
Both events take place daily between 10.30am and 3pm, (building closes at 3.45pm) during the school holidays.
To celebrate the patron saint of England, the castle is also holding a truly medieval experience for all ages to enjoy.
The annual St George’s Day celebration brings together a host of activities for all the family which attracts thousands of visitors each year. This year's event will take place on Saturday, April 20.
The day of fun includes living history at the castle, where visitors can help the laundress, learn about medieval weaponry and armour and join in with some traditional games with the castle’s own Lady Freville.
In the Castle Grounds try out archery, enjoy the spectacular medieval joust, walk around the medieval encampment, be amazed by the breathing five-metre animatronic dragon and try out the children’s activities. Normal admission prices apply to the castle, admission to the Castle Grounds only is free.
