Extra outdoor family movie matinee now available

- After the huge success of Encanto outdoor cinema, family favourite Coco now added to the outdoor cinema programme
- Afternoon matinee ‘Coco’ for the whole family to enjoy on large outdoor screens in the Castle Grounds
- The programme is part of the three-week family fun Castle Summer Fest
Due to popular demand, Tamworth Borough Council have added an extra family film date for the animated film Coco, screening at the Outdoor Cinema on Wednesday 10 August.
The matinee showing of Encanto in July, saw hundreds of families flock to the Castle Grounds for a fun afternoon of Disney entertainment. And now Coco is added to the Outdoor cinema line-up.
Coco is a 2017 animated fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures, inspired by the Mexican holiday ‘Day of the Dead’.
The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel who is accidentally transported to the Land of the Dead, where he seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his family among the living and to reverse his family's ban on music.
People are encouraged to bring deckchairs and picnic baskets ready to enjoy the next movie on Wednesday, August 10 at 2pm.
All tickets are priced at only £4! Gates open at 1pm, with the film starting at 2pm.
Later the same day, (August 10) audiences are invited to experience a 2021 blockbuster favourite West Side Story, directed by Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg.
This timeless story tells the tale of fierce rivalries and young love in New York City. Be ready to enjoy an evening of action, romance, and an emotional love story.
All tickets are priced at £8. Gates open at 6pm for a 7pm start. Please note this film is aged restricted to a 12A.
The outdoor cinema programme is part of the Tamworth Castle Summer Fest taking place until August 13, and includes live concerts by world-renowned artists such as Jack Savoretti, Melanie C, , Belinda Carlisle, Howard Jones, Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, Boney M, The Fizz, Toyah, Katrina of The Waves and Pat Sharp.
These incredible shows welcome families of all ages, with children aged nine and under admitted for FREE. (Must book a ticket in advance)
In addition, until August 8, live coverage of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will be shown on a large screen in the grounds as part of the event. “The exciting summer programme is thanks to Tamworth’s first Castle Summer Fest - three weeks of back-to-back activities, sports, live music and entertainment, guaranteed to bring families together for the biggest celebration ever in the outdoor events calendar.”
The Summer of Cinema continues at Tamworth Borough Council’s Assembly Rooms with many family favourites being screened. Family films include Paddington, Sing 2, Lion King, Hook and the ever-popular Encanto plus others!
