Film production team sought to depict 24 hours in Tamworth
A digital art project which is aiming to capture 24 hours in the life of Tamworth is now seeking a production team to help collect footage and put the film together.
Volunteers are invited to attend a series of workshops throughout August where they will work with industry experts to make the 24 Hours in Tamworth film. This will involve creating a storyboard, independently collecting footage and taking video clips back to weave into the 24-hour narrative.
Together, participants will produce a film which will be shown to audiences during the We Love Tamworth event on September 2 and featured online at www.tamworthartsandevents.co.uk.
Workshops take place at the Sacred Heart Church in Glascote Heath, between 6pm and 9pm, on:
- Thursday, August 10
- Friday August 11
- Thursday August 24
- Friday August 25
No previous experience is necessary; all you need is a smart phone capable of shooting video. However, anyone who has specialist equipment is invited to bring it. Sessions will be led by professional production company acquismedia and will include one-hour masterclasses by visiting artists.
Workshops are open to anyone living in the borough of Tamworth. For more information or to sign up please contact Katie on 07454 777090 or email katie.banks@acquismedia.com.
The film project is part of Focus 24: 24 Hours in Tamworth – one of the many elements of the Arts in Unusual Spaces initiative, which has been funded by Arts Council England and will see art in all its forms popping up in unusual spaces across Tamworth.
Focus 24: 24 Hours in Tamworth invites amateurs and professionals to submit photographs and video footage of the people, places, objects and experiences of Tamworth, at all hours of the day.
For the Focus 24 element, a total of 24 photographs, taken by 24 different photographers, will be chosen to represent 24 hours in the life of the town. While 24 Hours in Tamworth will see video clips being put together to make the unique new film.
The chosen photographs and the new film will be exhibited for 24 days, starting on Saturday, September 2, when they will go on digital display in Ankerside Shopping Centre to coincide with this year’s We Love Tamworth event.
Since launching at the end of March, hundreds of photographs and video clips have been submitted. Anyone who still wants to take part has until 5pm on August 5 to
upload their entries to the Focus 24: 24 Hours in Tamworth event on the Tamworth Arts & Events Facebook page. Entrants must provide their name, age and time the photo or video was taken.
Katie Banks of acquismedia, who has been working with Tamworth Borough Council’s Arts & Events team to deliver the project, said: “The photography submissions we have received for the Focus 24 project have demonstrated the pride and beauty to be found in Tamworth, not to mention the immense photography talent. We look forward to working with residents to extend this celebration of Tamworth, using the medium of storytelling and film to highlight the ordinary, the unusual and the unique of the people and the area.”
Cllr Joy Goodall, Tamworth Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Environment and Culture, said: “This project is all about showing off the people and places of Tamworth and providing people with new skills which enable them to do that. We’ve had some amazing photographs submitted for the Focus 24 element and it’s now the turn of budding filmmakers to get involved in making the unique new film, which will serve as a lasting legacy for the people of Tamworth in years to come.
“I would encourage anyone interested in filmmaking to attend the workshops, learn some new skills and be part of something really amazing.”
