Herald statement ref Open Air Concerts success
08 August 2023
Councillor Andrew Cooper, Tamworth Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Entertainment and Leisure, said: “Wow what an incredible weekend we had in the Castle Grounds for our open air concerts. Visitors flocked to enjoy a weekend of live music featuring top quality tribute acts.
“After the huge success of last year’s ‘Castle Summer Fest’, which hosted live music, cinema and Commonwealth Games screenings, Tamworth Borough Council and MRC Presents joined forces to bring another live stage to the Castle Grounds for a weekend of ‘Open Air Concerts’.
“Although we didn’t quite get the same weather of last year, that didn’t stop the crowds from partying and dancing along to the fantastic line-up of top tribute acts, that brought an electric atmosphere to the grounds!
“Open Air Concerts saw six top-quality tribute acts perform across three great value shows. From Cher to Meat Loaf on Friday night, ELO and Bowie on Saturday night, plus ABBA and Michael Jackson on Sunday, there was something for all pop and rock fans to enjoy.
“A big thank you to everyone involved what a fantastic weekend!”
People have taken to social media to express their enjoyment with comments including:
