Audiences prepare for a ‘rocking’ time at outdoor cinema
Audiences are preparing to enjoy cinema under the stars in Tamworth’s Castle Grounds as the popular outdoor event returns this Saturday, August 10 with two hit films.
This year’s film selections of Bohemian Rhapsody for the earlier 9pm slot, followed by Beetlejuice at the 11.55pm showing, have once again been chosen by a public vote.
Cinema goers are invited to bring warm blankets and a picnic, although ‘Woodfired pizza’ will be on sale this year provided by Artisan Street Food Company and Atik will be running a bar providing a wide selection of alcoholic and soft drinks.
No glass, gazebos or alcohol are permitted on site. Bag checks will be carried out on arrival to the event.
Gates open from 7.30pm prior to Bohemian Rhapsody, giving people an opportunity to grab a pizza and drinks from the licenced bar, while being entertained by music before the film begins. Gates will open15 minutes before the Beetlejuice showing.
Entrance is by ticket only and ID may be requested for both movies. Cinema goers are advised to arrive early with tickets at the ready.
Now in its seventh year, the outdoor cinema, organised by Tamworth Borough Council’s Arts & Events team, has become a popular feature on the town’s annual events calendar. Over 1,300 people attend the event for a summer evening of fun and entertainment in the castle grounds.
Cllr John Chesworth, Cabinet member for Culture and Operational Services, said: “The summer outdoor cinema has been a real hit since it was launched seven years ago. The response for tickets is always incredible. We hope that the added addition of ‘Woodfired pizza’ and Atik bar selection will be a real hit and provide a perfect setting for the evening.”
