Rock on! Tamworth music lovers to be electrified as iconic groups from 1980s reunite to headline Assembly Rooms
Two of the biggest bands of the 1980s will reunite to dazzle the audiences at Tamworth Assembly Rooms.
T’Pau and The Christians will be bringing a flavour of the past and the musical vibe of the 80s to the modern day through song, dance and entertainment.
If you’ve got enough energy still left in the tank from Friday and are looking for a Saturday night-out motive, T’Pau will be in the building on Saturday, November 13.
Bursting onto the scene in 1987, the group quickly made a name for themselves with their song Heart and Soul reaching No.4 in the UK and US charts. Moreover, Carol and Ronnie Rogers’ innovative use of rap verse in their debut album Bridge of Spies – which went on to be No.1 in the album charts – introduced the world to their distinctive lead vocals.
What’s more, they kept The Beatles at No.2 in the UK singles and album charts, respectively. The ASCAP award winners’ No.1 smash hit in the dance charts, China In Your Hand, appeared on more than 200 compilations, was the longest serving No.1 of the year and became a focal part of the fabric of the 80s.
The Assembly Rooms will open its doors to customers from 6.30pm with their performance beginning at 7.30pm. Tickets are available for £24.
The month of live music and entertainment doesn’t end there as The Christians will head to the Assembly Rooms on Saturday, November 20.
The group tasted huge success in the late 80s and early 90s in the UK and across Europe – and became known for their soulful yet social songs such as Forgotten Town, Ideal World, Born Again, Harvest of the World, Father and more.
Still fronted by lead singer Garry Christian, the group is enjoying a revival in the music industry touring Europe and embarking on a mega UK tour playing their favourites as well as a few from their latest albums.
Customers will be invited into the theatre for pre-show refreshments from 6.30pm with the show scheduled to start at 7.30pm. For ticket information and to book your seat, click here.
