Sizzling summer Bandstand music lined up for this weekend
Tamworth Borough Council’s hot programme of free Summer Bandstand Concerts continues for a packed weekend of entertainment as the sun promises to shine down on Tamworth Castle Grounds.
Join Tamworth Musical Theatre Company this Saturday, June 30, and Make Some Noise & Friends this Sunday, July 1, for a two day sizzler of performances.
Tamworth Musical Theatre Company is the home of musical theatre in Tamworth and has been since 1946. They perform two full-scale musical productions a year at local venues such as Tamworth Castle Grounds and Landau Forte Academy. On Saturday June 30, they will present a variety of West End and Broadway musical compilation, a perfect performance for an afternoon of free entertainment in the Castle Grounds.
Make Some Noise, one of the leading music charities in the West Midlands, will showcase a performance from local musicians engaged in their projects; featuring a mix of cover songs and original material, on Saturday, July 1. The group’s innovative and passionate approach about music inspires young people across the region and helps build musical confidence.
The Bandstand programme then continues throughout the summer when you can see a variety of bands, singers and clubs taking to the Castle Grounds stage to delight audiences.
This year’s bumper programme of Summer Bandstand Concerts comes under the Music Outside element of Arts in Unusual Spaces - a project which is funded by Arts Council England and Tamworth Borough Council to create and nurture new performers and audiences.
Sponsored by Ankerside Shopping Centre, all the concerts are free of charge, so bring your picnic baskets and blankets down to Tamworth Castle Grounds for an afternoon of music. Performances generally take place at intervals between 1pm and 4pm (subject to weather conditions).
