Free sporting activities for young people are returning to Tamworth parks this half-term as a result of a successful programme of sporting events called ‘Street Sport’.

The sports activities are aimed at 13-18 year-olds, but ages outside of this range will be encouraged to join in. The project offers a range of activities including football, basketball, tennis, handball and zone hockey.

Sessions are being run by Tamworth Borough Council’s Sports Development Team with two qualified enhanced DBS cleared sports coaches, thanks to funding earlier this year from Tamworth Community Safety Partnership and the Staffordshire Police & Crime Commissioner (OPCC).

The timetable of Street Sport events is available from Tuesday, May 29 to Friday, June 1:

  • Tuesday: Belgrave, Irwell: 9am-1pm and  Wigginton Park, Leyfields: 1pm-4pm
  • Wednesday: Amington, Kerria: 9am-1pm and Glascote Heath, Hawksworth: 1pm-4pm
