Town centre roads to undergo major improvements next week

news

A busy stretch of road through Tamworth town centre will be closed next week as Staffordshire County Council undertakes a range of work as part of a significant improvement scheme in the area.

Work will include resurfacing Bolebridge Street, its circular junction with Colehill, and the bus bays in Victoria Road to its junction with Marmion Street. The one-way road system will close to vehicles at the bottom of Bolebridge Street from Monday, March 12, for approximately eight days.

A variety of improvement work will be carried out, including resurfacing the carriageway with an innovative and hard-wearing surface treatment which has been designed to withstand high volumes of heavy traffic and waiting buses.

During the closure, the Bolebridge Street taxi rank will be relocated to Corporation Street and the Victoria Road buses will stop at the foot of Bolebridge Street/Anker Drive. Access to Ankerside multi-storey car park will be open as normal.

Access to properties and businesses along the closure route will be on foot only as the work is carried out.
